{"id":40175,"date":"2024-03-01T11:02:43","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T11:02:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.archtam.com\/projects\/amnh-gilder-center-for-science-education-and-innovation\/"},"modified":"2024-04-15T09:28:24","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T13:28:24","slug":"amnh-gilder-center-for-science-education-and-innovation","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/www.archtam.com\/projects\/amnh-gilder-center-for-science-education-and-innovation\/","title":{"rendered":"AMNH Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"aecom-custom-block block-intro-text\" style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 40px\">\n    <p class=\"editor-emphasized\">\n        ArchTam Tishman served as CM for the American Museum of Natural History\u2019s 230,000 SF Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation, a transformative expansion that creates a dramatic new entryway on the museum\u2019s west side, in Theodore Roosevelt Park, while providing numerous connections that link the entire multi-building campus.    <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Designed by Studio Gang, the dynamic new center encompasses education and exhibition spaces including an insectarium, living butterfly exhibit, a \u201cCollections Core\u201d with thousands of specimens and artifacts displayed across three levels, as well as laboratories, a restaurant, and visible storage. The remarkable, undulating structure was achieved using \u201cshotcrete\u201d \u2013 spraying concrete directly onto rebar bent into curving shapes without relying on traditional formwork \u2013 to produce the center\u2019s distinctive look and continuous, seamless walls.
