{"id":50779,"date":"2026-03-04T07:41:42","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T07:41:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.archtam.com\/projects\/cultural-resources-support-for-amtrak\/"},"modified":"2026-03-10T04:08:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T08:08:58","slug":"cultural-resources-support-for-amtrak","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/www.archtam.com\/projects\/cultural-resources-support-for-amtrak\/","title":{"rendered":"Cultural Resources Support for Amtrak"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"aecom-custom-block block-intro-text\" style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 40px\">\n    <p class=\"editor-emphasized\">\n        ArchTam\u2019s cultural resources staff keep American rolling      <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>ArchTam provides a wide range of cultural resources services to Amtrak (i.e., National Railroad Passenger Corporation) helping Amtrak and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) meet Federal regulatory responsibilities under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Community, Environmental and Client Benefits:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 Consultation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Archaeological Survey and Monitoring <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Historic Architectural Surveys and Assessments of Effect <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Design Documents Review <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Application of the Secretary of Interior Standards for Rehabilitation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>ArchTam has worked on over 300 railroad stations throughout the United States supporting Amtrak\u2019s Americans with Disabilities Act Station Program (ADASP) station improvement projects manage the process of collaborative assessment, design, and construction of physical improvements to provide passengers with barrier-free access to Amtrak\u2019s intercity rail transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Major components of ArchTam\u2019s ADASP responsibilities include extensive historic research and the development of Cultural Resource Information sheets for the stations. ArchTam\u2019s Secretary of the Interior-qualified Architectural Historians and Archaeologists review design plans, support consultation with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO) and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices (THPO), and draft Program Comment Documentation Forms. ArchTam\u2019s Archaeologists also develop Inadvertent Discovery Plans and Archaeological Monitoring Plans, perform archaeological and remote sensing investigations, and conduct archaeological survey monitoring of construction in sensitive areas.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ArchTam also provided support on nearly 80 projects nationwide funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which implemented security enhancements at stations, bridges, tunnels, and other related facilities.
