But\u00a0being in the room\u00a0isn\u2019t enough \u2014\u00a0a\u00a0seat at the table doesn&#8217;t matter unless you are visible, your voice is heard and your impact is felt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Summit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0United Way Women\u2019s Summit\u00a0will be\u00a0a catalyzing force for formidable change. The\u00a0event\u2019s\u00a0aim is to\u00a0mobilize women\u00a0as change-makers\u00a0and expand our impact as we\u00a0discuss what matters\u00a0most\u00a0and how to create environments where women can thrive. The summit is an opportunity for businesses and the\u00a0Los Angeles\u00a0community\u00a0to facilitate environments where women can make valuable contributions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The role of business<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are real\u00a0and wide-ranging\u00a0incentives for companies to support women.\u00a0When women thrive,\u00a0families\u00a0and communities\u00a0thrive,\u00a0businesses thrive\u00a0and nations thrive. It is important to be feminine, to be women as we lead. Trust\u00a0your\u00a0own abilities and recognize\u00a0your\u00a0capacity to lead\u00a0in dynamic and transformative ways.\u00a0Develop your personal brand by\u00a0continuously\u00a0seeking\u00a0opportunities that challenge you.\u00a0Throughout my career,\u00a0I continually made\u00a0myself available to take on new opportunities,\u00a0and this has been instrumental to my\u00a0growth\u00a0and skills\u00a0development.<\/p>\n<p>You also have a responsibility to\u00a0the\u00a0people you lead.\u00a0They depend on you to make the right decisions,\u00a0so hire the best people,\u00a0trust their abilities and give them as many opportunities as possible.\u00a0I\u00a0will\u00a0always\u00a0remember\u00a0the\u00a0people who trusted me\u00a0early\u00a0in my\u00a0career \u2014 I\u00a0believe that\u00a0their trust, as well as our experiences as a team (both successes and failures), have been instrumental to my growth.<\/p>\n<p>You\u00a0must\u00a0also be\u00a0prepared and\u00a0proactive. Anticipate change and seek new, better ways to work. But most importantly, always\u00a0remain human.
